Droitwich Spa 6-1 Redditch Borough

In a close first half, it was Droitwich who had the first attempt at goal as Alex Dugmore found Perry Moss out wide, he took on his marker but guided his shot just off target.

Only five minutes later, on 13 minutes, in a carbon copy phase of play, Moss this time found the target with a low drive that went through Josh Murtagh's hands and into the back of the net to give Droitwich the lead.

The advantage lasted only five minutes however, as a flick on from Kedeiah Warren-Paul found Sean Brain who, from a tight angle, fired a shot across Rogerson and into the far corner to even things up.

Brain could have put Redditch ahead on 23 minutes, but Rogerson denied him this time with an acrobatic save when the former Worcester City man looked certain to score.

Redditch were the more threatening throughout the first half and Droitwich opted for a direct style of play. It almost paid dividends when Dugmore won a header but he put it wide of the target.
Moments later, Danny Barnes's looping cross-shot shaved the face of Murtagh's cross bar.

Dom Rogerson was in great form once again as he denied Tivon Henry's long range effort, then Jack Carter in the space of a minute to keep the scores at 1-1.

Spa spurned a couple more half-chances falling to Matt Fusco and Dugmore before the break, and Warren-Paul was first denied by Rogerson, then a perfectly timed last ditch tackle by Sam Carey before the interval.

Droitwich, not for the first time this season, came out of the dressing room with a different approach and with all guns blazing.

Danny Barnes scored his first goal of the season to regain the Saltmen's lead.
Moss's low cross caused a break down in communication between 'keeper Murtagh and Liam O'Donnell who both failed to deal with a simple clearance, produced a ricochet off the latter's ankle that allowed Barnes the simple task of prodding the ball over the line on 50 minutes.

That defensive mix-up seemed to rock Borough, who were disorganised at the back from that point on and over-run by some fantastic passing moves from the hosts.

Within three minutes Danny Barnes had doubled Spa's lead and his tally for the season when he found himself with just Murtagh to beat, he touched it around the on-rushing 'keeper and into goal.

Dugmore was close to goal number four with a corner bound header that Murtagh was equal to, but the goal of the game came on 65 minutes as the Saltmen worked it from back to front with some excellent passing, sped up the play, Moss's back-heel allowed Will Dallaway the time and space to fire home from 10-yards out - his first senior goal!

Dugmore again had an opportunity to get on the scoresheet but headed off target, whilst at the other end, Brain also failed to hit the target twice when well positioned as Borough struggled to create any meaningful chances in the second half.

Alex Dugmore finally got on the scoresheet with 12 minutes remaining, and Redditch will be disappointed again with how they defended; the Spa striker with 18 goals in 14 games had his back to goal, a few yards out, was allowed to turn and hit a shot across goal for number 5.

McKeon could have reduced the deficit but fired well over with only Rogerson to beat, which summed up Borough's second half performance.

Substitute Woody Hawkett put the final nail in the coffin for his first of the season when Dugmore raced clear of the Borough defence and unselfishly squared for the youngster to roll into an empty net and cap off an unbelievable second half performance.

The Saltmen are through to the next round of the Wiseman's Lighting Hellenic League Challenge Cup, and with the victory Andy Crowther notched up his 100th win since taking over at the club in just 145 games!
