Holbeach United 0-3 Droitwich Spa

Droitwich Spa progressed to the Isuzu FA Vase 2nd Round for the 2nd time in the clubs' history, after an absence of 5-years thanks to a 0-3 victory in East Lincolnshire over Holbeach United.

The Saltmen are the only club from Worcestershire remaining in the competition, and the only club from the Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 in the 2nd Round for Monday's draw, as FC Stratford, Chipping Sodbury Town and Stonehouse Town were all defeated on Saturday.

The first half was edged by the visitors, and Nathan Binner's close range effort was shot over the bar on two minutes then Josh Simpson in the Tigers goal denied Charlie Tilley's effort in a bright opening 15 minutes.

Holbeach had a couple of good chances which fell to Dan Roberts who headed over from close range, then Dom Rogerson was equal to Harvey Thorne's effort.

Droitwich regained control of proceedings and Cory Rudd's strike was off target, Simpson saved after good play from Moss, and Tilley, just a few yards out, couldn't divert Kyonn Evans's drilled cross into goal.
Sam Carey, still searching for his first goal of the season, saw an effort cleared off the line before some neat build up play ended with an Evans shot sailing over the bar and the half ended goal-less.

Droitwich continued to press in the second period, and on 56 minutes their persistence paid off when Perry Moss capitalised on a loose ball, his first time half-volley flew into Simpson's net giving him no chance.

Simpson was in fine form and produced an outstanding one-handed reflex save denying another powerful effort from Moss from 6-yards out.

On 63 minutes the home stopper blocked Tilley's shot when through on goal, however Moss was first to the rebound and was brought down in the area before despatching a shot.
The winger stepped up to convert the penalty to give Droitwich a 2-goal advantage.

The Tigers searched for a goal back but Jordan Oldham put his header over the bar before Ryan Cook was denied with the goal at his mercy by Dom Rogerson and Droitwich held firm for a 6th clean sheet in 16 games.

The Saltmen came back in to the game quickly as Kyonn Evans and Perry Moss saw their shots go wide, and Simpson again stopped substitute Woody Hawkett's effort late on.

With United pushed up high in search of a goal on 90 minutes, a long ball forward found another substitute Josh Hurdman who ran from inside his own half, clear of the home defence and he calmly wrong-footed Simpson to slot into the bottom corner to ensure a 3-goal victory and safe passage to Round 2.
