Kidlington Res 1-5 Droitwich Spa

Droitwich Spa cruised to another victory in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 to go nine points clear at the top of the table, and have the possibility of being crowned Champions over the course of the next 7 days.

The game flowed in one direction throughout, and the first opportunity fell to Josh Hurdman, who saw an effort saved early on by home 'keeper Adam Dower, then a low cross for James Lemon well blocked away.
Perry Moss gave Droitwich the lead on 8 minutes as another Hurdman cross found him to tap home at the back post.

It could have been a Moss double four minutes later but after a fine deep cross from Phillips the linesman raised his flag for offside.

The hosts rarely threatened throughout, and their best chance of the first half fell to Ryan Chambers who profited from a poor clearance from Dom Rogerson but with seemingly just the Spa 'keeper to beat, Sam Carey raced back to block the shot.

Droitwich continued on the front foot and Lemon saw a strike blocked by Zac Rice, the rebound fell to Hurdman who only found the woodwork.

Perry Moss doubled the advantage on 19 minutes after a great ball from inside the Droitwich half found the Spa winger, he took on his marker before despatching a low drive past Dower.

Josh Hurdman then saw a shot go just off target after good work from Nathan Binner, and Cory Rudd hit a trademark dipping effort from distance that had Dower beaten but shaved the cross-bar.

It was 0-3 and a 24-minute hat-trick for Moss on 32 minutes when he latched on to a loose ball then chipped the onrushing Dower from 12-yards out to give Droitwich an almost unassailable lead.
There were further chances for Rudd and Hurdman before the break, who both failed to trouble Dower when well positioned

The hosts started the second half well with some good possession but failed to trouble Rogerson.
Lemon came closest to opening the second half scoring when he flashed an effort from an angle just wide of the post, however Nathan Binner made it 0-4 on 59 minutes with the goal of the game, as Kidlington half cleared their lines, he received the ball on the edge of the area, cut inside and curled an effort into the top corner.

Four minutes later the home side pulled a goal back as Spa failed to clear a corner, substitute Mason Horwood had the simple task of tapping home at the far post to make it 1-4.

Alex Dugmore and Charlie Tilley registered half chances before James Lemon rounded off the scoring 8 minutes from time as his first time drive from Ben Tilbury's flick-on gave Dower no chance.

Dower then denied Dugmore when through on goal, but Droitwich comfortably registered the all important three points without needing to get out of second gear.

A tough test at play-off chasing Stonehouse Town awaits Andy Crowther's side on Tuesday (ko 7.45pm) where Spa will be eager to avenge the 1-3 defeat at Kingy's earlier in the season.

With four games remaining, three of them against play-off contenders, the Saltmen require a maximum of four points to earn a first ever promotion to Step 5 and appearance in the FA Cup.
